A lot clients ask me what am I entitled to with Workers’ Compensation benefits. What I tell them is you’re entitled to three things; number one and most importantly, you’re entitled to medical treatment. However, that medical treatment must be authorized by the Workers’ Compensation carrier and they control or they tell you which doctors you can and cannot see. You’re also entitled to temporary disability benefits which typically are 70 percent of your pay for the time that a doctor says you’re unable to work. The third thing you’re entitled to is an award or a permanency award for your injuries resulting from the accident or your injury at work. And that occurs after you’re done treating and we schedule you for permanency evaluations, and it will usually settle after that within six months or so.
