Probate is a process of providing the actual will to the probate court in the county where that person passed away; and it’s the executor getting the authority from the court to start collecting the assets and distributing the assets according to what the will says. If there was no will, it's considered an administration. So, probate and administration basically have the same rules, but it is the process that the court provides in order to pass the assets properly and close out the estate.
