Brain Injury Accident
Well that’s an excellent question. Basically, there are two categories - the first is an open brain injury and that’s when someone’s skull is fractured and we all know it is what that looks like and what follows from that. It’s a very serious matter. Equally as serious and just as important is the closed brain injury where someone’s brain is damaged within the skull, literally crushed against the inside wall of the skull during an accident because of the forces that occur during the accident. Now, this can happen in a lot of different ways. The most common cause of a brain injury like that is a fall. The second most is an automobile accident and the third category is sports injuries and these closed brain injuries have terrible consequences and they can be from a mild traumatic brain injury all the way to a severe brain injury and they can cause all sorts of cognitive and behavioral problems from loss of sleep, memory, words, speech, talk, behavior and can fundamentally alter someone’s life and that’s why its so important to really understand the early diagnosis, the early treatment to address the issues not only for the brain injury victim but for the family as well.
