You may be wondering whether you even have a claim. One of the first things we need to know is did you in fact suffer an accident on the job? What is an accident?
An accident means that something had to happen that was a little unusual. A slip. A trip. A fall. Maybe you were picking up a box, and the weight inside shifted. One of the biggest things that we have to determine right away is was there an accident that in fact did happen?
For instance, if you’re just working on the job and you’re walking up a flight of stairs, and all of a sudden your knee hurts. Like that’s not an accident. Okay? You have to have something unusual. Now, if in that same scenario you’re walking up the stairs, and your knee slips on something that was on the floor and twists, that’s a different story. So it’s important that we identify right away whether or not you have in fact been in an accident.
