Medical malpractice is a broad category of claims involving medical profession.  It involves cases against doctors, nurses, hospital administrators.  And basically what we are trying to do is determine whether or not the physician acted reasonably under the circumstances.

A physician’s obligation is not to practice medicine with a crystal ball or to be all knowing or all powerful and certainly it is not to be perfect.  Rather a physician obligation is to act as the reasonable physician would under the same or similar circumstances.

That obligation is not unique to physicians, that applies to all trades people, it applies to all professionals.  So whether you are an attorney, an architect or an accountant you would have a similar obligation when dealing with your patients.  Now that same obligation carries over to people in everyday lives.  And the easiest example I can give you of that is when you’re driving your car we all recognize when driving a car we have an obligation to follow the rules of the road, but we also have an obligation that is more fundamental and that is to act reasonably under the circumstances.

Now when a physician is caring for a patient that obligation is critically important because people’s lives are at stake, and when physician’s make mistakes unfortunately at times people lose their lives.  And we’re here to represent those people who have been injured as a result of the negligent act of a physician.
